Florida principal calls teachers ‘Vaginas on fire’ in text: report
Quote:
What a couple of flaming idiots.
Two Florida school leaders are in hot water after exchanging text messages that called female teachers “Vaginas on fire,” WFTV 9 reported.
An assistant principal fired off the foul-mouthed message to his boss at Dr. Phillips Elementary School, according to the station.
“Take your time getting here!” assistant principal Scott Peters wrote. “Vaginas are on fire!!!!!”
The vulgar texts infuriated teachers and parents when they became public.
The Orange County School District launched an investigation that produced a report that was hundreds of pages long.
The result, however, was just a slap on the wrist.
The district issued Peters and Principal Daniel Merchant written reprimands, WFTV reported after pressuring district leaders into releasing the report.
Critics blasted the principals’ paltry penance.
“Well it sounds like sexual harassment,” teacher’s union President Diana Moore told WFTV. “I think it creates a very hostile environment for the employees at that school.”
Peters apologized on Tuesday for his crass comments.
“The biggest thing for me is, I let people down, and I don’t want to leave that impression of the school or how it operates,” Peters told the Orlando Sentinel. “I’ve disappointed not only my work family but as a grandson, son, husband and father.”
