A politician in Oklahoma has just thrown a monkey wrench in one of those right to refuse service bills by adding an amendment that would make a business post a sign that says who they will not serve thereby exposing haself

She said it is to stop the humiliation of LGBT couples since these bills are popping up all the time to make LGBT lives miserable. The bill has since been stalled at the first round and she says she will propose the amendment as long as these bills exist

Let's hope other states take her lead.

P.S. a bill to legalize gay "conversion therapy" was also defeated in OK this week :clao2:

Is it even legal to propose something like the legalization of a gay conversion therapy? Over here if a senator said something like that he'd be kicked out of parliament right away

Ever since they lost the gay marriage battle, Oklahoma's legislature imploded. They have a pending bill to end marriage completely so they won't have to marry gay couples

It has to be voted on to make it officially part of the bill but she scared them off for now. The House advanced other bills introduced at the same time as this one, but No Service is just in limbo.

It's not really that clever and it's just an amendment to stall, they probably will introduce the same bill later and allow no amendments. But I think it's a good amendment if a business is going to get away with discriminating against a group it should be posted in the window. Then the locals will take care of it. For example, no business in my area would survive if there was a sign that said no gays allowed or no blacks allowed or no Jews allowed. People would never support that.

so far the only No Service bill to pass and be signed was Mississippi's some months ago, but I don't think a sign would make much difference there but I know for sure in places with popular large cities this would kill business immediately
