Well, he's definitely trying to appeal to the extreme conservatives. This almost certainly isn't his actual personal belief, so take it with a grain of salt.

that's the whole point of an amendment.... no **** if they continued to follow the constitution as is, he'd have a point. but the constitution is obviously not free from criticism or changes.

Freedom is important, but it isn't everything. There are some things where freedom isn't appropriate. It'd be nice ot live in a country where people don't have the "freedom" to be terrorists, or the "freedom" to be homophobes, or the "freedom" to be murderers.

Freedom is good in most cases, but I don't think people should have the "freedom" to do horrible things to other people. If you restrict the freedom of others, is it really freedom?

Point is he still said it, regardless if it's his actual belief or not. Honestly not all conservatives are like this, and I realize this is his "shtick" but it's not going to get him anywhere. He's stupid as ****.

It's too far to the right though, Ted is probably the smartest guy in most any room he enters but he says some of the craziest things. Conservatives need to let this issue go.

However I don't think he cares. He is not really going to make a run for POTUS and his seat is safe so I guess he is just grandstanding for some sound bites and making liberal heads explode.

All of this silliness about "the citizens voted," "the state wants to protect" has already been shut down and pulverized so many times in US history, specially when it comes to civil rights.

But it's nice to see the wrong wing nuts going down with their ship as they are so close to defeat.

And I remember people who trashed talked "rogue judges" in 2004/2009 when Iowa and Massachusetts were ordered by a court to legalize gay marriage, but when Maryland/Washington/Maine legalized it through a vote they were asking if it could be overturned
