Mo'Nique just did something remarkable ... fearlessly speaking out about her feud with Lee Daniels -- one of the most powerful directors in Hollywood -- for claiming she's been blackballed.
The 2010 Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress came on TMZ Live to reveal what went down when her "Precious" director Daniels -- who's also co-creator of "Empire" -- called her to say Hollywood execs think she's "difficult" ... and don't want to work with her.
Actors almost never take on a director in public, but this interview is different -- Mo'Nique did not back down to Daniels. As for what started the beef -- Mo'Nique thinks it's all because she didn't name drop someone during her Oscar speech. Check out the clip.
I get her point, and I respect her for speaking out for what she believes, but she comes off as very cocky and, indeed, "difficult".
I still remember when she accepted her Oscar by saying "Thank you to the Academy for proving this could be about the performance and not the politics" (or something similar). That lack of humility doesn't help.
I don't think she'd be a right fit for Cookie, but I do agree with her now that I saw her interview. Lee being pressed she didn't say his name is STUPID. Like they all know it was his movie, why did she have to personally thank him for it? That seems super cocky to me, like girl had to thank him for this award. And I agree with her speech. Too often Hollywood is about politics, and it is a breath of fresh air that she won without 'playing the game'.
On the other hand, she should have known what she was getting herself into by not playing, but I understand her point completely.
