Is the word "colored" offensive?
Is using "colored" to describe a black person offensive?
Don't we all have skin pigment?
Isn't white, tan, brown also colors?

Well considering how the word was used during the Civil Rights era to segregate everyone who wasn't white...

i'm in a feminist group on facebook where they consider the term "colored" problematic.
but i'm white so it's not my call, i'll just go with the term the group in question wants me to use

Once again it's all about context.
Someone from the US might find being called colored offensive because of the way it was used in their society. Someone from South Africa may not because it is used as a racial group for mixed raced and others there.
Everything does not exist in a vacuum.
