Mana & Shakira Make Historic Debut at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs
'Mi Verdad' debut ends Enrique Iglesias' record 41-week run at No. 1.
Mana blasts in at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs with "Mi Verdad," featuring Shakira, becoming the only act with three No. 1 debuts in the 28-year history of the chart. With the No. 1 arrival, Mana bumps Enrique Iglesias' "Bailando" out of the top slot (1-2) after a record 41 weeks at No. 1.
Further, the song is only the 13th song to bow at No. 1 and the first to do so since the list became a hybrid tally blending airplay, sales and streaming data in October 2012. The last song to enter at No. 1 was Carlos Vives' "Volvi a Nacer," which started atop the then-airplay-only list dated Oct. 13, 2012 (the last chart week before the switch to the hybrid methodology).
"Mi Verdad" is Mana's 10th No. 1 overall (extending their record for the most leaders by a group) and is the first single from the band's upcoming album (title and release date to be announced). Shakira also earns her 10th No. 1 with the song's entrance (and her first since "Loca" featuring El Cata spent a week atop the chart in 2010).
The new song's No. 1 debut was powered by its launch at No. 1 on Latin Airplay (10 million in audience for the week ending Feb. 15, according to Nielsen Music), as reported in Billboard's Chart Highlights. Track sales further fueled the start, reaching 14,000 in its first week, entering at No. 1 on Latin Digital Songs, Mana's first No. 1 on the list (and Shakira's seventh).
A video clip for the track, filmed last year at a wine cellar near Barcelona with a still-pregnant Shakira, has accrued over 11 million worldwide views to date (since its Feb. 9 release).
