Noel Gallagher talks Beyoncé/ Kanye/ Beck
Quote:
Did you see Kanye tell Beck to give his Album of the Year Grammy to Beyoncé?
I did. If I were Beck, I’d have handed Kanye the award and a dictionary and said, “Have a look at the word artistry and see if it applies to Beyoncé.” If artistry is shaking your ass onstage, she’s ****ing great. Can I also point out that Beck can play the banjo? That’s worthy of any ****ing Grammy. You have to be cool to play the banjo. I should know, because I play the banjo, and it’s hard.

Some other extracts from the same interview...
- On the Kanye / Paul McCartney collaboration:
Quote:
Do you think McCartney did this because he's worried about the kids who don’t know who he is?
I’ve met him loads of times and he’s just a dude that likes to do ****. I think he’s inquisitive enough and brave just to do it. I don’t really think he gives a **** about being relevant. But maybe Kanye asked him. What are you gonna do? Say no? I mean, I would.
|
- On the albums suprise releases:
Quote:
The trend right now is to release albums by surprise without any pre-announcement. Beyoncé, Björk, and Thom Yorke have all done it. What do you think about that, and would you ever do it?
No. I’m a traditionalist. If you go back to the dawn the internet, I thought music was great the way it was. People would actually go into record shops and spend two hours there. I don’t think the record industry was broken until Apple decided to destroy it. I don’t agree with free music. I don’t agree with bonus this, or deluxe that, or added content, or streaming music. Here’s the record, there’s the money, you take the record, thank you very much. When it comes to the gigs, you pay, I play, you clap, and then you leave.
|
- On Spotify:
Quote:
So you’re probably not a Spotify customer?
No, I like to own my music. My music’s not for rent. You can’t rent Bob Dylan. When I was 15 and I used to go around to people’s houses, their albums were right there — and do you know what album covers were? That was the poor man’s art collection. That got lost with the CD, because then there was the CD rack and you could just see the spine, but you could still see what that had. That’s gonna ****ing die. People are gonna go to other people’s houses, and it’s gonna be like, Where’s your record collection? Oh, already directly downloaded to your brain. It’s unbelievable. So my point is, Spotify, no thanks. I like to own my music.

Playing the banjo harder than being the best performer alive? Ok.

Why do these people always talk about Beck's ability to play many musical instruments when discrediting Bey's artistry?

What kind of delusion to the fullest extent is this? My god. Just because Kanye degrated Beck's musicianship does not mean the this, whoever he is, should feel the need to either.

Playing your own music is artistry because you are creating the sound yourself and proves you are skilful in that area, which therefore shows the irony in Kanye’s statement

This is a quote from Prince on Beyoncé
Quote:
.. I was really curious as to how much she knew musically and I was really pleased to find out that she knew a lot about scales. Mixolydian scales and Egyptian styles and different things like that and.. I was trying to show her some chords on the piano and help her to respect the fact that if she learns piano ala Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.. and things like that I mean it’s.. the sky’s the limit as to what she can do, ’cause she’s so very talented.

Poor Beyoncé getting shaded and disrespected because of Kanye's immature attitude.
He got her a lot of new haters in the public and industry because of this. If I were her I would honestly distance myself of that guy.
But well he didn't lie that much, for me she became a great artist with her last album, but she's overrated at the same time. She deserves praise but not that much.

I can't stand him but I don't entirely disagree with his first point, the banjo is difficult to play. He has such a terrible attitude, though.

White and old from a rock band. Of course.
She does more than "shake her ass" on stage. She is the greatest artist of our time

Some of these comments come off as a bit misogynistic,
as if she doesn't outsing Beck one million times over while "shaking her ass" on stage.

Kanye is always getting Bey's good name dragged in mud. This wouldnt be the 1st time either. If i were her, id cut him off, he can keep his sick obsession at bay. I mean why doesnt he jump on stage for Rih. They have 678677 songs together.
