Discussion: Artists who sold 100M records in 5 years?

So selling over 100M records means you've definitely made a mark in modern music, and you're likely an Icon, if not a Legend. However, doing so within 5 years is extremely incredible and shows a humongous peak.

The Beatles obviously did.

Mariah Carey has:
Music Box — 26.000.000 (1993)
Merry Christmas — 13.000.000 (1994)
Daydream — 21.500.000 (1995)
Butterfly — 10.500.000 (1997)
#1's — 15.500.000 (1998)

Total: 86.5M, not including singles. One Sweet Day, All I Want for Christmas, and Without You together have sold over 15M. Let alone Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Dreamlover, Hero, and etc.

Gaga also has, and I don't really need to explain that since most of us know.

Has your fave or anyone else sold 100M records from releases within 5 years?

91 million =/= 100+ million

25M (1999) - 20M (2000) - 11M (2001) - 8M (2003) - 7M (2004) = 71M albums.

She sold 36,875,000 singles from 99 to 04 so ~108M records sold in the first 5 years.

Take out '93 when she only sold around 5M from Music Box (released in September), and you still get 100M from adding in single sales.
