I've always wondered about this.

Yes they're African but they have Caucasoid skulls and when a Somalian person has a kid with a white person they usually look fully White/Arab. I also remember reading that genetically Somalians are closer to white people than they are West Africans (not sure how true that is though).

It's so confusing because 90% of the Somalians I see just look like Arab/Asian people to me.

Not to mention the fact that I've read that several Somalians don't view themselves as black and are racist to black people.

Do you guys consider them black? Can any Somalian member fill me in on what they/their family view themselves as?

Somalians do not look Arab. They look black. At most, they can look like Afro-Arabs like those black Saudi people. I always thought they were a mix of black and Arab because that's what they look like.

Look Asian? Maybe some of them can pass as dark skinned Indian or Sri Lankan people, but you can tell they're black from their hair.

Originally, yes, they are. But the current generation is more like mixed Arab and Black.

Genetically they're a little closer to Berbers/Arabs than other African ethnicities, but they're still black.

Humanity has been mixing for thousands of years. The original ones were black. Don't Africans from that region have the most diverse gene pool anyway?

In the same way Ethiopians are.
East Africa is so complex though, I mean, I've seen super light skinned ppl from there who'd pass as biracial in the States but have 0 white ancestry in actuality.
So I guess it's a huge mix.

In reality races aren't clearly defined and laid out in specific regions, they're a lot more mixed and blur together aesthetically in certain areas.
