Gov. Sam Brownback said an 2007 executive order by Kathleen Sebelius, then the state's Democratic governor, went too far by not getting legislative approval to bar job discrimination for sexual orientation and gender identity. Brownback said any expansion of such laws for LGBT employees should be done by the Legislature "and not through unilateral action."
The Supreme Court needs to make anti-discrimination protection the law of the land. It's just as important, if not more important, than marriage equality.

For state jobs, at least. I believe there was a case maybe 3 decades ago where someone put out a ad for a "looking for a Scottish nanny". Non-Scottish nannies complained the guy claimed it wasn't selective discrimination since he discriminated against all non-Scottish nannies equally.

SCOTUS can only strike down discriminatory laws. Anti-discrimination protections for LGBT can only be done through executive action (which Obama did for the Federal Gov.) and legislation. ENDA has been rolling around in Congress since the 90s mostly because of its exclusion of the transgender community and confusing and broad religious exemptions.
Let this be a red mark on this man's record. Very unfair and unnecessary decision.
It's moves like these that make me ashamed to be American. I feel like LGBT rights activists should be focusing more on securing anti-discrimination laws across the country, rather than gay marriage. Being able to marry who you love is nice, but not everyone wants to get married. Everyone does need a job though, and the fact that there are places in this country can be denied jobs and protection just because of their sexuality is outrageous!
So sad to see people suck in the stone ages.
