Slovaks are notoriously bad voters and the only referendum to ever pass was the one to join EU and even that barely made it with 52%

LGBT and friends knew most voting would pick yes so they advised everyone to stay home and it worked
The haters had even posted a billboard of the Pope asking them to vote yes since he had visited the country ecently.

Don't expect another vote anytime soon, each referendum costs the government several millions of Euros

The referendum could have either a "pro-gay" OR "anti-gay" outcome

Stop referring to any referendums as "anti-gay", like referendums are the purest form of democracy

They are using smear campaigns; the government even refused to air a commercial that made fun of a child adopted by a gay couple So it's not just men and women only not men and men it's gays are perverts who prey on children, gays will kill society in their promo - don't forget the people who mastermind these referendum campaigns are Americans who preach hatred against LGBT. They go abroad now because they know gays keep advancing here and they lost.

Yes it is pure democracy and as shown in the report your average Slovak doesn't care. In fact close to half support civil unions and most agree gays should be free to live their lives - this was a feeble attempt by miserable people trying to hijack that very democracy.

Well maybe this referendum was hosted by anti-gay people, but often it seems that questioning anything at all is labelled "homophobic". "Please chile, shelve those scientific studies on the nature of homosexuality, they're useless. Haven't you heard Born This Way? Lady Gaga told us all we need to know. Are you a homophobe?"

Several countries have quotas. This result is dead. The issue could be brought back as many times as long as the signatures are there but without 50% all it is is a waste of € and time.

So all this achieved was 6 million dollars wasted - that could've been spent on orphanages, schools, etc. The president said he was shocked and disappointed at how polarizing this was, especially pointing out that he never expected the anti-marriage/adoption crowd to cross the line at times.

Don't expect a re-vote soon, the signatures may be presentes but it's up to the president to schedule the vote

Why did they even try to copy messy Croatian referendum ? Here , the referendum occur just because country is in it's 6 years long recession so this was like a rebel against that and they used the situation when ppl are desperate to criticize ruling social-democrats.
