No shock here: Beyoncé’s self-titled visual album crushes the competition. No one is better at working the whims of the Internet to her advantage, whether it’s by surprise-dropping the record on iTunes or by sending out carefully calibrated Instagrams to stoke the rumor mill. Again, we calibrated the results to determine the average number of searches from the time of the release until the end of 2014, and Beyoncé’s album collected about 600,000 per month. Ed Sheeran’s X, the next best, only received an average of 168,000 queries. What’s more, this is the one case in which popularity matches up with acclaim, since Beyoncé is the critical favorite to win on Sunday.
