I was thinking about the heights seen by the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, etc. and it made me wonder: Is it harder to become a star or is it harder to stay a star for a prolonged period of time?
So many have come and gone in the space of 3 months, whether it's with a smash single or a juicy scandal.
Obviously stay famous, it's not hard to get famous at all. Even if it's only a 15 seconds of fame thing, people still get famous for the dumbest reasons (Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo, Tanning Mom)
I can't seem to come to a conclusion.
Staying famous isn't that difficult if you know how to play the game right and make the media your bitch but becoming famous can require a lot of effort.
Becoming as famos as Gaga, Britney, Madonna is harder than "staying famous" because there are only a few like those 3 and there are planty who attend the VMAs every year, yet I could care less about any of 'em or their "fame" .

So the answer is: It depends.
True!
It depends on the level of fame, I suppose.
I've decided that it's harder to get there than it is to stay there. Think about it: It's harder to get people to care about you in the first place than it is to hold their attention for a long time. It's harder to turn indifference into interest than it is to turn hatred into love.

the celebs you mentioned... its obvious why they stay a bit relevant
I think someone famous (maybe Nicki?) said it's harder to stay at the top once you get there, but it's easy to get there.
I don't think it's true though.. it seems like once you've become famous - you already have a platform to maintain the fame. As long as you don't **** that up, whatever the reason why you're famous should be easy to maintain.
ex. being an actor, just keep releasing good movies, musician - release good music, etc.
The music industry is filled with one hit wonders. Its easy to become famous if your song takes off and smashes on its own, but to be able to sustain that is the test.
