My response to @lefsetz's sloppy and inaccurate critique of Katy's Super Bowl show: Having worked closely with her for over ten years on all of her albums, I can attest that Katy Perry writes all of her own songs. She's performing our song "By The Grace Of God" this Sunday night on the Grammys, a confessional song about hitting bottom and feeling suicidal after your husband divorces you with a single text. She's smart enough to collaborate with other great writers, but anyone who works with her can tell you Katy drives the ship. She writes the melodies, the lyrics, has the song concept months before writing it, tells the producers what the tracks should sound like, what they shouldn't sound like, and is the real deal. Your writing is the murkiest sludge of being confidently opinionated, vaguely mean spirited, and completely mis/uninformed. You have no idea that Katy writes her own material and authoritatively claim she doesn't? Due diligence works wonders for authorial credibility. You also don't seem to quantify a distinction between art and entertainment. Katy isn't trying to be Leonard Cohen on a major network sports show featuring 300 pound sweaty men slamming into each other. Here's the lyric to "By The Grace Of God" that I watched Katy write every word of:

Sorri but Greg Wells is not her main collaborator and is responsible for like 0.1% of her career/legacy/music. What goes on with Dr. Luke, the important stuff, is probably nothing like it.

I wish she would work with Wells more though. She doesn't need Luke.

Yeah, I honestly think Luke is a control freak and would never let Katy write her own lyrics 100% on his songs.

Might be why Gaga supposedly turned him down.

That said, is this the new single?
