"Katy Perry is so upsetting... Why?"
Katy Perry has to be the least controversial, most family-friendly pop star in history.
So, why is Katy Perry upsetting to so many fanbases? The ferocity is intense, moreso than other artists.
Maybe it's true that some people really just loathe how Katy Perry's pretty, talented, and doesn't need
to try hard or be over-hyped to be successful. Enlighten me with your thoughts on the subject.

it's normal for people to get upset over corporate mediocrity being glorified, just like, say, movie buffs would have a right to be pissed seeing something like Paul Blart: Mall Cop gross 150 M$+

Seeing as most of ATRL = Hive, Monsters, and Taylor fans, who all feel extremely threatened by Katy or whose fave has been obliterated on the charts, I would say it's not hard to see why

as soon as you're a commercial singer (big label and promo in the release week) you're try-hard. SO I don't even know what's your point. she's talented for writing teenage songs; her voice is so-so and she dances decently. I've always "love" her as a person though cause she's funny and has a comedian vibe which can become a blueprint among female singers.

She is try hard tho, or at least her label is. Let's not deny this fact.

It's obvious that some fanbases are just jealous because Katy ACTUALLY pulled it off. I wasn't expecting such an amazing performance and she was mind-blowingly good. Not only that it was emotional and I think that's why it connected to a lot of people. The Kats must be rejoicing right now and I'm happy for them. Definitely better than Beyonce's... it was great then but Katy's was definitely special.

You really think the Hive is threatened by Katy? What a joke lmao.
Anyway, I don't really think she upset anyone. Maybe just the Monsters because they might be jealous or something.

I think other fanbases are so mad because they'd rather see artists who push the envelope more succeed rather than artists like Katy who tend to not experiment as much.

She is admittedly a pretty person, someone who has demonstrated considerable ability at writing formulaic pop music, and then I personally don't care for her persona or at least what she exudes, but to a lot of people I can see how she seems really relatable or maybe even funny.
But truly she's just pretty unremarkable at everything she does beyond some (brief) moments of genius within a studio setting. Like I've never really seen her 'look' iconic, do anything really that iconic, or just more generally look like the pop star history / society has designated her as. Like for me there's an incongruence in her success and the quality of what she produces, but like I said that's just me. I like apples, and some people like oranges.
But the troll aspect of this thread hinting that she's so good at what she does that it should be impossible to dislike / disregard her is laughable. It's incredibly easy to not have a taste for Katy Perry, I can assure you of that.

The Hive has nothing against Katy really... And Katy praises Bey constantly, so I don't see where there'll be any friction between the two fanbases. As for, the comparison SB threads, that was inevitable since Bey is the last female to perform and she's the standard/blueprint for ATRL and the industry as a whole.
I think the only fanbase that really has an issue with Katy because of the PRISM/ARTPOP era and well now the Swifties.

Ugly people tend to hate pretty people, I figure that's why most people on ATRL hate Katy.

tbh I'm just petty but that Beautiful Liar comment will always be engrained in my mind as the moment I realized I truly just do not care for that woman. lol but at least I can admit that about myself, I find it funny anyway.

How does one "look" iconic...walk around in only underwear all day and hope paparazzi take pictures of them?
So cringe

Your welcome. I could tell by the sudden higher pitch in your voice, if you were wondering.
I know how hard it is to feel threatened sometimes, I'm glad you're dealing with it alright
