Yes there's a new Disney Renaissance going on right now.
The last one began in the 90s with Beauty and the Beast (1991), after tons of flops in the 70s/80s the studio went back on track with Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahantas, Mulan and Tarzan but then in the late 90s CGI animation kicked in, the DVD market exploded and Disney decided to make easy money with Direct-to-Dvd release.
That was the death of Disney's creativity, critical acclaim and cultural impact.
Pixar, Dreamworks and other CGI studio took over the animation market in the 00s.
But thank god Internet destroyed the Dvd market and Disney had the to put effort into theatrical release again to make up for the Dvd loss and why not boost the merchandise.
