They still made third-party games for other consoles, but it seems like they're stopping that.

Yeah, but now they're not gonna be making any games for the PS4, One, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, etc. Now they're just gonna go to Steam and iOS/Android.

Sonic just got a re-boot, doubt it's going anywhere.

It's kind of funny though, SEGA no longer focusing on console gaming after pretty much making games exclusively to the Wii U.

If they were wise, they would just switch to PS3/4 and Xbox seeing as most Sonic and other Sega games go Platinum on those platforms.

Pretty sure Sonic is under Nintendo

Nintendo needs to swoop in and buy the rights to a lot of their games.
Sales for its U.S. reboot look like this:

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal – 73,000 units
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric – 68,000 units

They're going to have to do some serious freemium gaming to get back on track.

I think Sega's on borrowed time now. I give them a year or two before the file for bankruptcy or get bought out by someone else (maybe Nintendo, since they're so close).

The 3DS is the biggest platform out there right now and has sold the most software.

Sonic Lost World did really well (a lot better than deserved), as have all of the crossover games. The problem is that Sonic games have been terribly reviewed now for at least a decade now so it's not like the consumer is going to rush out to get them.

The 3DS is the biggest platform, but Sonic has never done well on handheld. Ever. Unless it was a simple 2D Arcade game.
Not to mention, Nintendo making Sega turn the franchise into a Platformer, rather than a classic Sonic game is just the word idea ever

Sega were better when they use classic gameplay. Although 2006, and Unleashed were a misstep, the found their footing again.

Aww. And I was hoping for it too. The dreamcast was the ish. I'm sure that could've made a console that would be successful in modern times.

Honestly mobile would be a the best place for a Sonic game. Start with some "innovative" endless runners (not even much of a stretch) and then actually create something fleshed out.

It's all the other franchises this is bad for.

They had a little bit of success with Sonic Dash (Temple Run rip-off). Sonic is really the only franchise that works with mobile though. Maybe NiGHTS and Monkey Ball.

I hope they sell some of their franchises though. Nintendo would be great for Monkey Ball and NiGHTS while Sony would be good with Phantasy Star and Skies.
