Discussion: Why is FFS performing better than Diamonds & WFL???

Why is FourFiveSeconds (currently #3 on iTunes) performing better than Rihanna's past two lead singles Diamonds (debuted at #4 on iTunes) and We Found Love (debuted at #11 on iTunes) during each song's respective first day of availability on iTunes???

Why is ICON out-doing herself yet again???

Because of the hype (releasing every year a new album doesn't help) and because of the Kanye/Paul collab.
The song is horrid so it will eventually do way worse than those 2 classics you already mentioned.

After almost 3 years break I'm surprised it's not #1 by now. Where's the demand sis? Clearly not much since the song itself is terrible.

This is the second time in a few weeks Paul McCartney and Kanye have been in this spot on iTunes. They're massive sellers.

Did Rih have the center banner on the iTunes page for Diamonds and WFL as well? This song isn't going to come even close to WFL sales wise when all is said and done.

Well, given her 2+ year hiatus and the other artists on the track, It's not really surprising that it's doing well (for now). It sounds a mess, but good for them I guess, I really hope this is a one-off sound because I'm not here for it.

Kanye has a dedicated fanbase and i hear Paul used to have a band back in the day with a decent amount of fans that still supports everything its members put out.

It's a new Rihanna release. The first since Unapologetic (Not counting her features on TM and CRTFY). So there's a lot of expectation on it.

Featuring Kanye & Paul, their fanbase is probably helping too.

Too bad this song probably won't be nowhere near iconic as WFL and Diamonds. I still refuse to believe this song is actually the 1st single from R8. A mess.

!!! They are not the definite reason the song is doing well. Especially since Rihanna's last album outsold both Kanye's and Paul's

To be fair, I'm not one that ever indicated how I thought this would perform on iTunes. I wouldn't have been silly enough to state that it wouldn't reach the top spots when Kanye & Paul just did a few weeks ago. I do, however, maintain that I find the song atrocious. That won't change. Just my opinion, though. Hoping Rih comes out with something good for her next release.
