Elderly black man assaulted for legally carrying a firearm.
Quote:
A simple errand turned violent for Clarence Daniels this week when he went to Walmart for some coffee creamer and wound up in a chokehold.
Upon arriving at the Walmart in Florida’s Hillsborough County on Tuesday, the 62-year-old Daniels, who is black, grabbed his handgun from his car and slipped it into a hip holster underneath his coat. Watching this from inside the store was Michael Foster, a 43-year-old white man described by the Tampa Bay Times as “a well-intentioned vigilante.” As soon as Daniels walked into the store, Foster tackled him, shouting, “He’s got a gun!” Ignoring Daniels’ repeated yells of, “I have a permit!” Foster proceeded to put him into a chokehold. When sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they confirmed that Daniels was indeed a concealed carry permit holder and Foster was arrested and charged with battery.
And before anyone comes in here defending Foster, y'all know damn well Daniels would've been arrested for murder for standing his ground had he taken action.
Um, he had a gun and he didn't die so I don't see the problem.
The problem is that he was profiled as a black man. He legally had possession of his firearm, but was looked at as a possible criminal. A lot of people carry firearms legally. Hell, Walmart sells them.

But why would he need to be carrying a firearm into a Walmart? People need to stop making EVERYTHING about Race.

Maybe because he didn't feel safe and wanted to exercise his constitutional right? I mean, he's clearly yelling "I have a conceal and carry." and he's still being attacked. He legally had the right to shoot and kill the man attacking him but didn't. I think it's pretty clear that he's an upstanding person by the way he handled and defused the situation.
And yassss @ the man who tackled him being arrested. Justice is served
who the **** needs a gun in Walmart?? like wtf?? so just because someone has a permit to a gun, he or she is allowed to carried everywhere in public? do you not see how messed up that sounds. but there is a very high probability that race had something to do with it but at the end of the day, it doesn't give anyone the right to display guns in public. that's just utter foolishness.
Legally, he can bring his firearm where he pleases.
A cousin of mine said there were people in Target and other stores exercising their right to bear arms. Assault rifles and all. None of those people were tackled or assaulted. So this elderly man shouldn't have either.
