My ex was highly promiscuous before we dated so I figured he'd stop when he was with me, turns out I was very much mistaken. Recently, I got chatting to this really nice guy but when he slipped in he had recently slept with a lot of people I was immediately turned off.

Thing is, sex is such a natural thing... but I still see it as a connection between two people. Call me old fashioned, but I want to know the person I'm sleeping with, I want to have feelings other than thinking they're hot. Each to one's own I guess, but I believe if a person is promiscuous by nature they always will be. The funny thing is, having one partner is unnatural. At the end of the day, we are animals. Our brains have been wired to think that pleasure is wrong and that the ultimate goal should be to settle down with someone. This is completely false. If someone wants to play the field, let them. As long as it's safe and not hurting anyone, it's really nobody else's business.

Monogamy is a social construct as a species there is no evidence of it being otherwise. Let's go back 10,000 years and think well if monogamy didn't exist then incest must have been widespread but it wasn’t. Sure it happened but, it happens today but most cultures shun it. So how did they know? They think it is simply a matter of the family group being so familiar with each other there was a level of contempt between the siblings, less towards aunts and even less towards cousins.

Society and religion puts the constraints of pairing on us and people who ‘sleep’ around get the stigma of being trash.

With all that said, I think monogamy is a good construct within the confines of marriage or a committed relationship.

I don't really ho shame either. As long as people are safe, responsible, and truthful to their partners then have sex with whoever as much as you want. I might be a bit wary to date someone like that though because of the stereotypes
