Virginia is considering a law that would allow doctors, teachers, and all companies to deny service to gay, lesbian, and bi people under the guise of “religious or moral conviction”. In the face of progress for marriage equality, this is how anti-gay groups are fighting back. More than 150,000 of us have asked Virginia’s House General Laws Committee members to vote NO on the proposed anti-gay bill. Today, the petition will be delivered directly to the Committee’s Chair. The stakes are high and assembly delegates - even the Speaker of the House - are feeling the heat. We just a few hours to increase the pressure and get to 170,000 signatures before the delivery tomorrow, and let politicians know that we are watching. Every signature could make a huge difference. Add your name to the petition:
Oop! Saw this on the news last week when they talked to the guy proposing it.
I didn't think anyone would thread this but either way it's not that shocking, for me anyway.
I don't think the bill will go very far because it's just a mess waiting to happen but we'll see.
I signed it. The lengths people will go in this country over such petty **** amazes me, especially when there are so many other important issues that need to be dealt with.
Our Governor will not sign it, so it doesn't matter. And if it so happens to pass, which I extremely doubt. Our attorney general will not uphold the law and fight it with any plaintiff that goes against it.
