So I was scrolling through my facebook, and I noticed a post where a Korean illustrator, Manhwa Wu did a couple of illustrations of Western fairy tales and turn them Asian. It got me thinking with all the uproar about cultural appropriation, how come in this case there was not an uproar? Is it more acceptable for others to appropriate European culture, but no the other way around? Do white people get the right to complain about other's taking their culture?
As far as my opinion, I think as long as it is done with respect, and not mocking, people should be allowed to try different cultures. This whole debate about cultural appropriation gets extreme and divides people tbh. And I find these pictures gorgeous and interesting. What do other members think?
Snow White
Frozen
Alice in Wonderland
Beauty and the Beast
The Princess and the Frog
Little Red Riding Hood
The Snow Queen
Wild Swans
The Little Mermaid (the only Eastern/Asian fairtytale, so doesn't count)
