Serena Williams catfished her hitting partner and it was cruel but mostly hilarious

According to Sports Illustrated, Serena Williams played a cruel and unusual prank on her hitting partner and “brother” of eight years, Sascha Bajin.
A prank so cruel and unusual that it’s more or less on the order of friendship-ending. That is, unless these cruel and unusual pranks happen between the two all of time. If so, this had to have been Williams’ magnum opus.
Williams “catfished” Bajin, meaning she created an online persona to play with Bajin’s emotions by stringing him along with text and Facebook messages.
The two intimated the saga to Sports Illustrated in detail: She created a tan, ethnically-ambiguous alter ego named “Heidi.” Heidi was this gorgeous woman, complete with her own Facebook page with a bio and plenty of photos. Heidi even had her own French phone number. Heidi contacted Bajin out of the blue, claiming to have gotten his number from “a friend.” Heidi was all but too eager to meet up with Bajin in person.
Williams kept this up for a pretty long time. Bajin told Sports Illustrated of Williams’ treachery:
“Oh, my God. This went on for almost a month and a half. It was so detailed,” Bajin says. “I mean, there was some serious master planning.”
Bajin has known Williams for almost a decade, so her tone and voice must be pretty much audible in her text messages.
Imagine the thought that went into this. Imagine how much work goes into not sounding like yourself for a month and a half. Moving the chess pieces just so. DASTARDLY.
Bajin told Sports Illustrated that he even talked about Heidi with Williams, and somehow she kept a straight face through all of it. If Bajin hadn’t finally worked up the nerve to actually call Heidi and heard Williams’ phone vibrate in her bag, Bajin still would’ve been fawning over this angelic face he’d never seen in person, and didn’t question, because why would anyone?
Williams had planned to take it even further with a fake missed connection:
“Take pictures of him and then I was going to send them to him,” Serena laughs. “It was getting really sick, dangerous.”
Tricking someone you consider to be a brother to into going across town to a coffee shop to meet up with no one when gas prices are this high? SICK IS RIGHT.
