After only four months on “The View,” Rosie Perez is leaving the ABC morning show, Variety has learned.
Perez had taken off the month of January to appear in the Broadway play “Fish in the Dark,” but it’s understood that she won’t be coming back to the Hot Topics table once she’s done. It’s unclear when ABC will announce her departure, but for now “View” producers have been trying other younger co-hosts in her seat.
In October, “The View” moved from ABC Daytime to a special production unit of ABC News. But the shift in management hasn’t resulted in any improvement in “View” ratings. More changes in staffing — both behind and in front of the camera — are said to be in the works.
And bringing in younger people doesn't do anything with that kind of show. It's not it's target audience and it's too late to try and aim for that audience now.
They've had Naya on a lot and she brought a lot of attention to the show the other day so I wouldn't be surprised if she was a possible replacement being mulled over.
I liked her on the couple episodes that I saw. I noticed they've been bringing in a lot of younger women of color to guest-host. I take it that's what they're looking to replace Rosie with.
They need an Elizabeth Hasselbeck/Bill O'Reilly type character on the show, to be honest. Unfortunately, nobody wants to see positivity and cute dog photos and hear Rosie O sing Frozen songs all episode long. I miss the old days with the whooping and hollering and carrying on and split-screen fights.
I just read an article that this season is so far their lowest viewer ratings they have received for the show. Guarantee she didn't "Quit", but mostly got the permission from the execs to use that as her reason of being let go. Similar to Jenny and Sherri, though they all won't admit it, but cmonnnnn now.

I think Nicole Wallace vs. Rosie has been pretty spicy. Yeah I don't get the age thing.Why would a 25 year old watch the View over the Real/Wendy? Why would they even be available to watch Daytime TV? They should just expand their older housewife audience.
Thank god. She was truly dreadful. I'm praying Laverne isn't her replace. She's just as bad, if not worse. Loud, dominating, in your face and struggles to spit out a cohesive sentence
