After the Sony hack revealed the ugly truth about unequal pay for women in Hollywood, Charlize Theron is taking a stand. She insisted that she be paid the same as her male co-star Chris Hemsworth in their upcoming movie, “The Huntsman.”

Hollywood sources tell Page Six that standing up for her worth paid off for Theron, who negotiated via her agents at WME. She got a deal worth more than $10 million, the same as Hemsworth.

One source said, “Charlize insisted that she get paid the same money as Chris. She has a great track record, so she got the same deal.” Another insider added: “One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios.”

Maybe this will make people realize why "feminism" is such an important cause right now and deserves to be as big in the spotlight as it currently is. It's sad we're in 2015 and women are still not treated like they deserve to be.

Wouldn't you if you were in her situation, they need her back for the movie. Chris is no different than her, if you look at his movies outside the franchise, he is no box office draw.

Apart from that she has had many big hits (besides the smaller movies she also does).

There is nothing wrong with asking for equal pay when you're sharing equal billing with someone. Charlize is a genuine A-lister and Academy Award winner. She is right to ask for this money.

Depends on your bankability and I never thought of Charlize Theron as a household name. Hence a lot of her movies did not really do well.

Prometheus and Snow White were successes - and let's not forget that SW's marketing campaign was centered almost entirely around her.

Aeon Flux would have done better if it were released around now, instead of in 2005 when audiences were indifferent to scifi action.

Most of her movies are indies or smaller budgeted movies that wouldn't have been huge moneymakers regardless of who was in them.

I say Charlize better slay with her negotiating power!
