It's trendy in Brazil now to use this selfie stick (known here as "pau de selfie" ), but a lot of people are criticizing the gadget by saying it's tacky.

What's your opinion about it? Do you use a selfie stick?

I don't use it, but it's quite useful for when you want to make a selfie with a big group of people

There were all these people trying to sell selfie sticks to us in Rome, on day 2 I already wanted to tell them to shove it somewhere so I guess my experiences with it affect my opinion

They're all over Spain too. I like them tho, they're useful. I even bought one for my dad for this Christmas

It is. When I was in Paris this summer literally all Asian tourists had one and it was just so cringey. When one of them tried to approach the Mona Lisa with their camera using a selfie stick, the guards literally pushed them back. It was super hilarious.

If you lack the shame to not take selfies in public, then I do not see a single bit of reason not to use one assuming you'd get the angle you want with it.
