Discussion: Are you tired of the negativity?

I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who's tired of the constant negativity. Day after day, people trying to bring everybody else down and trashing other peoples' favs as if they personally harmed them. Posting receipts and sales and numbers that really mean little to nothing?? I don't get how someone who does these things daily continues to come on ATRL and actually enjoys it.

For me, even just seeing it makes it so much less enjoyable. AKA a large reason as to why I don't login to ATRL for days, sometimes weeks at a time. Being around the constant negativity is literally draining, and probably even a bit unhealthy.
Is it such a hard habit to quit? Is it that hard to not respond to the threads/posts with flamebait written all over them to give the person the reaction they want from you? Wouldn't you rather agree to disagree with others' opinions and be open to the fact that other people simply have different taste than you and be able to /at least/ be neutral with one another?

I don't mind trolling threads so much since Mods clean it up, I'm more tired of the servers/lack of new members. But I understand that we can't do anything about either until the upgrade is ready.

So basically, I'm ready for the upgrade

YES is so boring and tiring and dumb the saddest part is most people do it to get quoted with "drag" yas bish" "omg scalp ha". Is not bad once in a while for some fun but most of the times is really try hard.

I've gotten very, very tired of the negativity before, yes. Unfortunately, there ultimately isn't much to be done. What works for me is distancing myself from ATRL and just enjoying pop music. I return in full swing when I feel rejuvenated and I take ATRL much less seriously.

I really wish, out of everything on ATRL, that we could all hold in-depth discussions on the quality of music, finding new music, etc. All of the "yellow journalism" on ATRL just gets very... tiring.

People are negative because misery loves company.

My best advice is just to limit your time on ATRL. If you're looking for positivity, you're probably not going to find too much of it on here, and that's not changing anytime soon.

The problem is the threads with the negativity are the threads that get the most views, hits etc.

The nature of the media and the nature of people in general is always going to be getting pleasure in watching someone else fall or fail. People enjoy reading scandal - That's how people have been socially conditioned.

If you want to change it, the whole conciousness of this site would need to change.

Many of my posts are probably criticized for being too positive (or delusional, they would say since you can only be real when posting jaded/vitriolic comments

). So I often don't look back after posting in a thread, to avoid a back and forth that usually goes nowhere and where a constructive exchange void of gifs, words taken out of contexts and trolling isn't possible. Been there, done that... It's just a pointless war of ego.

Just continue being the bigger person and remember some people (including the many guests visiting the forum) may appreciate your positive spirit, without you even knowing about it.
