I know I have saw that interview. But I don't think it's because of #willpower. He never has been a solo powerhouse, none of his 4 solo albums did majorly. He just has a succesful single now and then and he bet he knows that. It's just that he thinks he needs to innovate every time he comes back around.

But I would not take everything he says for granted. At the beginning of the The E.N.D. era he also said he wanted to share dozens of songs throughout the year, because he wanted to create an "experience" etc. the only song we solidly got from that idea is "Be That Way (Complicated)" and after that they used other demo's for 'The Beginning" and the idea aswell as the idea for an app got scrapped.

I wouldn't be suprised if we see him doing talks about this "experiences" for a fe wmore months, and in the end seeing a whole other concept.

It's not because of #willpower. In an interview around 2010 time he said he believes in the future people won't release albums, they'll just release songs whenever they want, so he's had this idea in his head for years.

To be honest, I don't think it's that bad an idea, especially for an artist like will.i.am who's really a singles artist (at least in his solo career, BEP albums have done well though). A lot of dance artists have been doing this all along.
