Vietnam was one of the first to add a constitutional ban on gay marriage in the 90s, but now it is the first in the world to repeal it.

The work is only half done though; the country used to fine people caught having gay weddings but now the new law that went into effect on the 1st says that people can have gay weddings but the government won't recognize them.

Some MPs have hailed this halfway point as a good balance and a first step.

Let's hope the next time the Law on Marriage and Family is reviewed, gay couples will finally get their day

Not many, unfortunately. I cant speak for other Asian countries, but Philippines is somewhat accepting. One of the biggest and most popular celeb there is gay. But that doesnt mean people support gay marriage. Just don't go to the southern portion of the country though!

Philippines is a very religious country and the church still involve themselves in the government. Its a joke tbh.

not legal but thats great esp for an asian country seriously if you watch their media/shows the gays do so much and even some of their greatest/most popular celebs are gay.

Some places have anti-discrimination laws and Thailand, Philippines have a partnership bill pending while Taiwan has a marriage bill pending. If Nepal writes their new constitution the way their High Court told them to, then they will be the first in Asia with gay marriage
