Mortal Kombat's co-creator Ed Boon stated last year that MK9 (with one re-release) is the best selling title in the franchise with 4 million copies sold. This is an impressive feat, however, other fighting games, like the origial Street Fighter II: The World Warriors, sold 6.3M on its own (not counting re-releases like SSF2T which sold 4.1M or SFIIT which sold 1.6M). This comes off as shocking, since some MK fans use the re-releases excuse as a reason as to why SF games tend to sell more than MK games. So i'm particulary shocked by this revelation.

Mario Kart sells amazingly well, is played all around the world (including Asia) and is at the very top of its genre, not even comparable to Mortal Kombat.

SF has sold more units than MK (Mortal Kombat), earned more money, and received better reviews and mroe acclaim. Not to mention the upcoming SF game is the 5th mainline title while MK's (Mortal Kombat) upcoming title is their 10th mainline title

Mortal Kombat isn't huge in asia(that side of the world). If it were it would obliterate SF. Most if MK sales are from NA.
