Car Accident in Norwood, Colorado leaves one dead
Quote:
Around 5 p.m. Tuesday evening, a single-vehicle accident on Colorado Highway 145 in the San Miguel Canyon resulted in a fatality.
Longtime Norwood resident Karen LaQuey, 75, was killed after the vehicle went off the road and flipped upside down in the San Miguel River. The driver survived.
Dr. David Homer was one of the first on the scene after the accident. Homer waded into the river and attempted to assist both the driver, who officials did not name, and LaQuey, according to San Miguel County Sheriff Bill Masters.
“The roads were a little slick yesterday and conditions have been pretty adverse lately,” Reed added. “We suspect that contributed to the accident, but we have not come to any conclusion about how much the conditions contributed.”
“This is a tragic loss to both her family and the community at large,” Masters said.
LaQuey is survived by her husband Keith, son and three grandchildren according to Sante.
