OK, so I don't know how news-worthy you guys might think this is, but it kinda seems like MTV might be bringing back the Breakthrough Video award for this year's VMAs. MTV just opened the "Hall of Fame" section on the VMA site, and the link on the home has this caption:
Quote:
Ready for the nominees? Before we tell you who could win this year, check out our archive of the greatest music vids in VMA history.

I'm assuming this means MTV will announce the nominees pretty soon and are thus giving people a refresher on who the previous winners of the categories given out this year were. They also did this last year, except that the video galleries were uploaded 2 at a time, depending on which categories people were voting for that week. Anyway, the galleries have the all-time best Video of the Year, Male Video, Female Video, New Artist, Pop Video, Rock Video, and Hip-Hop Video winners, all of which were categories last year and were available for voting on that e-mail they sent earlier.
On top of that, though, there is another gallery named "All-Time Best Breakthrough Videos" available with most winners back to "Losing My Religion" (1991). Now I'm pretty sure they didn't have that video gallery last year, so could this indicate that MTV is bringing back the Breakthrough Video award (which for some was the category with the most credibility at the VMAs) after last handing it out in 2005?? Personally, I would really love it if they did so; it would only make the VMAs better for me. What do you guys think?
