Recent events ranging from rap artists vocalizing their issues with white artists' prominence in the music industry to the excessive measures taken by white police officers in America against black civilians have made racism a very hot button issue in the world, as well as on this forum. There's clearly a lot of different perspectives here, people of different ethnicities and walks of life who have strong opinions on the subject, but here's the issue I see: most of you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

it goes both ways; there are people who display disgusting amounts of overt racism and there are people who perpetuate and condone problematic ways of thinking about how persons of color should feel / have the right to feel / what can be said against non-persons of color.

This is a pop music forum, and even if these issues sometimes permeate into the celebrity aspect of pop music, this really isn't the place for 14 year olds to be spewing unformulated opinions on race when this website continually demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of racism on pretty much every account.

If you get it: great. You understand racism. Use that knowledge and apply it to making your own life and the lives of people around you better. But no one wants to come on this site (white, black, or otherwise) and feel prejudiced or guilty based on their skin color. Most of you are much better at talking about sales and stats than you are race relations anyway, so you'd be better off keeping your opinions out of places where they don't really matter

(that's not to say it's not important to talk about race / racism issues, but lbr is this really the place to do it? No one gets anywhere and you all just promote faction on this forum, throwing around the term 'racist' so loosely when that word is heavy in weight. All of ya'll can do better.)
