I went and saw the movie and thought the movie was just alright. Am I the only one who thinks this movie is overrated? Why do you think people are so in love with this movie?

The way the film was made impressed everyone, the movie itself is very average. So yes the movie is extremely overrated.

I love it because it's relatable. It's a realistic story with realistic characters. It has the right balance of drama and humour and it really makes you think about things. The idea of shooting it over 12 years was fantastic too, it really helped make it great.

yes. pretty overrated imo. i loved the idea of shooting the movie over a span of so many years with the same actors but apart from that it wasn't that special imo. idg the fuss over it

The movie should be and is praised because of the process, years and effort that it took to do this one of a kind project. While it relies mostly on the pop culture references, it definitely comes off as a documentary of an average American boy growing up, and I guess that's why people would think that it's not 'that' special, but you should have in mind the immense and long preproduction and production of this project.

No. It doesn't hit all the right notes it should have had considering what it wants to be but it is an impressive achievement that could ultimately back up its gimmick with very strong substance.

Many of the best films ever depict life just as it is without the movie being in need of an actual plot - Yi Yi, Blissfully Yours, etc...
