For a real map strategy game try Europa Universalis or Victoria 2. Civ is legit a baby game.

Civ V complete edition goes on sale occasionally for about $15 which is an absolute steal for such a great complete game, Brave New World makes it perfect I think. A shame multiplayer is currently in shambles and Beyond Earth is still a buggy mess.

What is wrong with Mr Gandhi though? Is he a bit unpredictable? I think he was like that in Civ 4 but whatever, I will just beat his ass .

Beyond earth? I'm personally not interested. It sounded buggy as hell from what the redditors said in the r/civ subreddit.

Anyway, if you love money and taking over city-states, you should enjoy Venice.
