A church pastor who said he would pray for a gay man to kill himself has been slammed by the Human Rights Commission and fellow Christians.
Author Jim Marjoram emailed 400 Auckland churches about his book, It's Life Jim, which details his many decades of struggling with being a gay Christian.
The response from Pastor Logan Robertson at Westcity Bible Baptist Church said he was "not interested in your filthy lifestyle or book."
"Romans 1 clearly says God has rejected homos and they are worthy of death. You cannot be saved.
"I pray that you will commit suicide, you filthy child molesting ***," Robertson wrote in an email.
Matt McLean, a TVNZ reporter who is openly gay, said Robertson told him today he would not give an interview to a "filthy ******" and he hoped that McLean, too, would commit suicide.
