Celeb News: Scott Borchetta (TSwift's label head) joins American Idol

Looks like*American Idol*and Randy Jackson are (truly) never ever getting back together.

Fox’s reality-singing behemoth has*named Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group and the man who helped launch Taylor Swift, to replace the outgoing Jackson as Season 14 mentor.

Perhaps more importantly, however, Borchetta’s relationship with the nextIdol*champ “will extend past the show’s finale,” the network announced. “Borchetta’s Big Machine Records will partner with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group to oversee the launch of his/her recording career. The winner will join Borchetta’s record label roster of superstar talent, including global pop star Taylor Swift, whom he discovered at the age of 14, as well as Tim McGraw, Reba, Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line and The Band Perry.”

But nice that the winner gets to sign with Big Machine.

They'd actually put effort towards making them a star.

Scott was on the show Can You Duet that was on CMT and I think he dealt with one of winners of The Voice. This makes sense. He would be a good match and might actually help launch a superstar on the show.

But have either of those people hit it big?

They are in desperate need for a successful winner. I don't even know who won last year. Aside from Kelly and Carrie (and to a smaller extent, Phillip Phillips and Jordin Sparks), no other winner has done remotely well.

I won't watch it (as I never do) but I'm interested to see how the winner fares with the new label. It may be what this show needs.

He also signed Raelynn from the voice. She didn't win, but her song has been selling well and is actually getting country airplay.

She also signed as one of Big Machine's songwriters.

She also just performed on the voice last night.
