Dear MTV VMA Viewer:

Thank you for helping to choose the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees. Your responses will help determine who the Nominees are in all seven (7) of the categories, including:

* Best Male Artist
* Best Female Artist
* Best Rock Video
* Best Hip Hop Video
* Best Pop Video
* Video of the Year
* Best New Artist

Here's how it works: Any promotional video which was initially acquired and exhibited on any MTV channel between June 19, 2008 and 11:59PM EST on June 29, 2009, is eligible to be considered for an MTV Video Music Award. MTV is not responsible for any eligible video inadvertently omitted from the ballot. You need to choose your favorite in each category.

In each category, we've listed the eligible videos to choose from. Click HERE to vote.

Voted too, and saved the lists of Eligible Videos on a Word Document. Tell me if you're interested in any of them.

Also, did anyone else who voted note that on the last category (Best Rock Video for me) the progress bar said 47% and then the survey abruptly ended?? I wonder if that means that there will also be technical categories this year that only a select few can vote for...

EDIT: Oh yeah, also, Slipknot's "Psychosocial" was on the Best Rock Video eligibility list... Wasn't that video also nominated last year???

Looks like the e-mail actually did come from MTV. Who would've thought they'd use a "surveynetwork.com" address and have such a shoddy looking site in general? In any case, it's telling me, "We're sorry, this survey is now closed."

This is like the second or third year I've gotten an e-mail from MTV to "help them" pick the nominees for the VMAs. They never hosted the survey at mtv.com, though (as far as I can remember). I don't know why, though...
I'm getting the closed survey page now, but that might be because I already submitted it once... Usually it just says "we're sorry, but you've already completed this survey," but for some reason now they're saying it's closed. Who knows?

I noticed that Black Eyed Peas has no chances to be nominated. Their videos are banned in MTV, I don't know why.

I think they closed it. But i have a feeling that there will be a lot of news coming this week, so can some mod please change the title of the thread to "Mtv Video Music Awards 09 Countdown"? That way i will post all the news here.

At least it's ANY channel, since music videos being the hallmark and trade of MTV totally belong on a digital channel you have to pay extra for...and which seems to play the same 7 videos when not playing some ****** ass "playlist." God I hate MTV Hits and wish MTV would just stop raping my childhood/teen years and end the VMAS.
