-Rematches, and the Mirage Tower were NOT in the originals. Batter Tower was but the Maison is virtually the same thing.

None of these things were in the originals except for the Battle Tower which is like a worse version of the Maison.
Pokemon games have always been easy. Also remind yourself that people our age aren't teh target audence. Try to make it harder for yourself, there are enough ways to do it. Also Pokemon games have never been challenging.

They could have been better for sure but they are solid Pokemon games.

Rematches and battle tower were all in the originals. Trainer Customization weren't in the original but that's only because of hardware limitations. Might as well use NO 3D as an excuse.

I was surprised the Elite Four members don't have megas until you rematch them from what I'm looking up right now.

the whole thing with the megas was a fault of the marketing, not the game itself.

although i have yet to play the game, the feedback thus far seems very disconcerting! i'm glad they stayed true to the originals though in creating two games which have disenchanted a lot of fans with minimal post-game/replayability

No one is saying the orginals were rocket science. The difficulty level has dramatically been dumbed down ever since the release of X Y but it wasn't as noticeable because it's a new region.

But these are remakes so the difficulty level is easily comparable.
