We used to get all of our kitchenware from Macy's and never paid $50 for one knife. The average, basic, kitchen cook can do just fine with a set of durable, stainless steel cutting knives, that are easy to sharpen. My boyfriend has a Ginsu, block set in his kitchen that he bought brand new on eBay for $50, and they cut just fine.

I have some Thiers-Issard set which was like $400 for 5, frankly they don't seem as functional as this (the two main knives were $100 each).
But that's what I'm saying, this knife here is cheap

$50 is entry-level pricing! It's not expensive. I spent something like $1800 (?) on knives in the last couple years, the
average was above $50 and a lot of those were cheap knives.

That is a set

never heard of them 'cos I'm not into kitchen knives, it does seem slightly suspicious they are giving FIVE VG-10 blades for $220 (I've paid over $150 for one VG-10 blade) you should check reviews on Bladeforums Chowhound and ChefTalk
