Coping with the loss of a pet
My dog that was like my best friend shockingly and suddenly passed away today, he was only 5. I'm so heartbroken right now....what are some tips to help cope with the loss of a pet?

I'm so sorry to hear that. My family had a German Shepard for 15 years and she passed away a few years ago. It's difficult and very painful, but you'll get through this. Time heals all wounds...

I'm sorry to hear it's hard especially when you've been attached for a very long time.
I had to put my 12-y/o cat down. He had gotten terminally ill, so I knew he was just living in pain. I didn't even stay to watch them do the "do"
I heard it helps if you get another dog (or animal) to fill the void, but I've not tried that theory. I hope you get thru this tough time because I know how you feel.

Thank you
Oh I could never watch them do that, not in a million years. I have the image of how my dog looked when we brought him in the emergency room stuck in my head and its making me so sad. It just doesn't feel real and I don't know what to do We have another dog and I'm also worried about him, he might be missing his brother

It completely broke me when I lost my best friend.
I am very sorry for your loss. It's very hard and one of the worst to go through. I don't have much advice as I handled mine in a very terrible fashion but if you ever need someone to vent to, I'm here.

Aw
I'm so sorry.
Last year my dog passed away and he was about 14, I cried the night before because I knew it was coming, he collapsed and wouldn't move for about 5 minutes. The next day we brought him to the vets, but I couldn't bare to go into the room with him and I had to get out of there, which I regret and still feel bad for making that decision
Just remember the memories and if you need to cry, do it.

Thank you
I figure the best thing I can do is just let whatever feelings I have just come out. I bawled my eyes out for hours tonight, and I'm glad I did because if I tried to stop myself or keep it in, it probably would have been worse later on.

Omfg I'm so sorry
My cat died unexpectedly when she was 5 in Oct. 2008 and it's still hard for me sometimes. She was my BEST friend too dude. She was very anti-social and hated people, but she followed me room-to-room, slept with me, and was basically w me 24/7. I cry about it once in a blue moon, but when it happened I cried about it all the time. Things like this never get 100% better but I can assure you in time you'll begin to process it and it won't be as hard as time goes on. I hope you feel better as soon as you can, stay strong

It's a bittersweet thing that I was there when this all happened (mostly bitter obviously). It was hard to see him like that, but the silver lining is that I was there with him and he wasn't alone, which would have been so much worse.

And I'm so sorry to hear that I'm glad to hear it gets better. I'm not much of a crier but I bawled my eyes out today. I just wish I could keep the good memories in my mind and remember him and smile, but its so hard.

I understand and I agree.
My brother and his uncle went in with him, but I hate that I weren't the one with him since it was me and him against the world. Not for me tearing up.

I was going to have a drink but I've heard that its a bad idea to drink when you're upset so I guess I should stay away.

I'm so sorry I lost my amazing cat three months ago, and it came out of nowhere. She was really healthy, and the youngest of my pets. Needless to say, it was a terrible day. I am sending you virtual hugs, and know that over time, you will definitely feel better. You will think of the happy memories of your friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss
I unexpectedly lost my beloved puppy of 5 years too a few summers back, and honestly I don't think there's anything you can do but wait until you recover My one recommendation--don't get another dog too soon. I really didn't want to, but my family got another dog a few months later and I just found myself comparing them constantly.
Oh, one thing I found helpful was going through all my phones, cameras, computers etc. and finding all the pictures/videos I could of him and putting them into one folder It was a nice way to remember him and to focus on all the funny stuff he used to do, rather than focusing on his absence.

If you have another dog, you should make sure to give him extra love. Sometimes people think if they have more than one pet, the ones left behind won't be affected by a death, but they are. Especially if they've been together for an extended period of time.
Give him extra hugs and snuggles. It'll help the both of you. And remember that he loved you as much as you loved him, and you probably made his life, as short as it was, pretty awesome.
I'm sorry sis. But also know that everyone goes through this, and everyone comes out of it just fine.

OMG i am sorry for your less!!
My german shepherd died at the age of 5 . me and my family were away for my brothers engagement to a different city and left him at our house with a caretaker and a security guard. A burglar came in one night and he protected the house but he hit my dog with a shart object on the head . The ****ing security guard was sleeping and he didn't notice and my baby bled all night . My mom and dad hid the news from me but some chatty cousins revealed it and i cried for the whole day . I was expected to happy for my brother but i had so much grief . one of the worst times in my life
We cremated him with all the rituals when we came back . RIP to him
Keep the good memories with you . foster them and they will bring you happiness
