Britney obviously had a much bigger peak, but I think Rihanna gets bigger with every era, and she already has more WW smashes than Brit with less albums. Thoughts?
The word impact is thrown around here like it's the most unimportant thing to use. What's impact. Leading the bubblegum generation?
Rihanna hits catalogue, global reach, longevity. larger audiences love, stats etc make up for her status. They are singers for god's sake. If we measure them by iconic dresses, etc then ok...
She'll have a bigger career overall, especially in terms of longevity, but Britney will always have the bigger peak. Britney's peak is possibly bigger than anyone else's will ever be. And impact normally comes from a peak. But just because BOMT was bigger than Umbrella and (I hate to say this) the meltdown was bigger than the bashing, it doesn't mean that Rihanna hasn't made an impact.
And don't come at me for bringing up the meltdown and the bashing. Negative publicity and bad media attention are still impact. In fact I'd argue that negative impact often outshines positive impact.
She has a much better career and a better discography. That's all that matters. Major peaks are overrated. Consistency and influence is more important.

Yes.
No one can beat Britney's prime, it will never be 1999/2000 again.
