In what is sure to be the most awkward X Factor return ever, Nicole Scherzinger will come face to face with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini tomorrow night when she performs her new single 'Run'.
Simon Cowell dropped Nicole, 36, from the judging line-up once Cheryl announced her return to the show earlier this year, fearing they wouldn’t work well together.
And although we're sure Chezza will be the ultimate pro, clapping and smiling graciously for the cameras, there's bound to be some major tension backstage - because, putting it mildly, the women have history.
It all began during PurpleTrouserGate (look it up if you've forgotten), when Simon Cowell fired Cheryl from the X Factor USA and swiftly hired Nicole to replace her. He then rubbed more salt into the wound by installing Scherzy on the UK judging panel. Cheryl then of course replaced Nicole on the panel this year.
The former Girls Aloud star, 31, later wrote in her autobiography that their first meeting was “awkward” when Nicole sang her hit 'Promise This' to her.
“I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face.It was just so awkward,” she said.
Nicole later hit back at “silly” Cheryl in an interview, saying she had “never spoken poorly” of her.
“That is made out to be something else and I don’t understand why. I don’t understand why anybody would do that.” she said.
Apparently they haven't seen each other in years, so will fur fly when the pair are thrown together on live TV?
Cheryl was Girl's Aloud body. When they first started, they sang in weird places, Cheryl was not affraid to jump into the croud and fight to defends the girls.
