In 1996, Five female MCs came together in unity to create a collaboration which defined a sisterhood in a male dominated genre. The single also being nominated for Grammy. Success aside, it also brought together a bunch of other women to help celebrate the unity including Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, SWV, Xscape, etc. Now fast forward to 2014, the ladies once again reunited with the help of girl group Total, YoYo and MC Lyte. Also to pay respects to the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes at the 2014 Soul Train Awards.

How come Kim, Missy and Da Brat can maintain a sisterly bond that lasted over 10+ years but the current generation of female rappers feel so disconnected? We have so many talent like Nicki, Iggy, Azealia, Lil' Mama, Angel Haze yet there seems to be a huge, empty gap between all of them? Have times changed that much?

The rap game was very different in the 90's. Everything was more authentic and all the female rappers had to fight extremely hard to be in the game, so they had each other's backs. Now, female rappers still have to prove themselves, but there's a curved lane for them already so they don't feel the solidarity that much

The femcee's were on the same page, they were the reason these new femcee's are even here. They understood the misogyny and to lack of respect women got in the industry and had the GENUINE bond to fight the 'system'. It was REAL, and you could see they were/are really friends, They had the mentality to have as many female rappers in the industry and stuck by their message to have a female presence in the male dominated industry. We've had A bunch of all female emcee collaborations from then on.

Nowadays, It's ' I'm the only female out and I want it to stay like that', Count how many female rappers are featured on other 'mainstream' femcee's songs, Done already? The mindset has changed and the fame and power has gotten to these other broad/s heads. iT'S NO LONGER 'I'm Doing it for the females to show these men how it's done' it's ' it has to be ONLY me' The sad thing is, Most of these young ass fans are proud and proclaim there happiness that there's no unity or support amongst the femcee's (some) nowadays. The veteran's are called 'washed' old' and all else even though some to most of them are using formula's and ripping off the veteran's. A prime example is people bagging on Iggy/trina for giving eachother props, Like iggy can't have a different opinion from 3 years ago.

What amazes me is when People proclaim how 'bitter,jealous & Anti-female unity kim is'... Yet she was the one on the fore-front bowing down praising all the females who came before her TILL THIS DAYS, even the ones whom dissed her. Kim's the one who hooked the collaboration, Kim's the one who's supported and promoted other femcee's projects, Kim's the one who's done multiple collaborations for free, Kim's the one who brings out multiple femcee's out at her tour, I could go on, But the unity amongst female is not there in the 'new school', Jealousy and vanity has overcome that and it'll never feel genuine if a collaboration upon them happens, they don't have the sort of backbone to put their differences aside get along
