It's just another concept of talk show.
Plus you have to know that Taylor Swift is not very popular in France. People don't really know her except for "We are never ever getting back together". I understand that it could be very strange for an American because she's a real superstar in your country, but she's almost unknown here (even if she's a superstar in neighboring countries like the UK too).
