Taylor pulls Born This Way; Microsoft selling 1989 for $0.99
Quote:
You Can Now Buy Taylor Swift's New Album For One Dollar
For a limited time, Microsoft’s new Music Deals app if offering her new album 1989 for only $0.99. Yes, that’s right. You can get her new CD in it’s entirety for less than one dollar, and the whole thing is legal.
The Music Deals app will have a weekly offering of 101 albums, all offered for $1.99 at most. Typically, the top album from the selection will be $0.99, and the rest will be $1.99. The 101 albums will refresh every week, so if you see something you want, get it while you can. In addition to Taylor’s new album being all but given away this week, there are also a large selection of hip-hop albums (including some from the likes of Drake, Kanye West, Jay Z and 2 Pac), as well as fifty metal albums available.
Microsoft has made very clear that while they are selling these albums for much cheaper than their usual price (sometimes 90% off the iTunes store price), they aren’t getting a deal from the major record labels. The company is willing to lose money by paying the full price and essentially giving them away in order to attract new customers to the app, hopefully converting them into longstanding fans.
I dont like these tricks. Records should be broken fairly not in shifty swifty ways like this. Everybody stills mocks Gaga for the Amazon 99c BTW sales and now people will do the same with this.
I bought it for that price there, but it was like 3 days ago...It was there for a long time though, since everytimr I turned on my computer I saw it being advertised.
Why would she allow it to be sold for 99c if it didnt count? It either does count or she thinks it counts. With Gaga's Amazon deal they did count cause Amazon bought them for the $4.99 miniumum allowed and sold them at a loss for 99c. I dont know if they changed the rules since then.
Microsoft is a mess sometimes if iTunes has been the best and basically only widely used digital retailer, why would you want to make one that's far from being as good? That's just stupid.

No they bought it full price. So she allowed it coz she's getting coins. But it doesn't help her first week sales at all. Instead it harms it as potential buyers will just get it on xbox which won't be counted for BB

Not a big fan of this trick. Now the 99 cents will be associated with Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
