Is anyone here an accountant or accounting major? I am considering that as my major, and I would love to know your thoughts on career paths and what the courses are like! I have taken financial and managerial accounting so far, as part of a business school core curriculum.
Hey! I know we've talked before, but accounting is great (you remember I did econ, though ). Honestly, so many jobs. I don't think you'd have trouble finding a job out of school. I work with a lot of them and they like the work, and you really can work in so many different fields and functions.
If you really love math and are good at it, look into actuary. Pays big bucks and it's a relatively low-stress job once you pass the exams. If I could do it all over again I'd do this http://money.cnn.com/2013/04/25/news...t-job-actuary/
I have my B.S. in Accounting. It's a great career path. I'm currently going for my MBA now.
I can tell you that if you hate math and statistics, don't consider it. Oh, and both Financial and Managerial Accounting, as well as Cost Accounting are a piece of cake compared to the Intermediate Accounting courses. Tax Accounting is tedious (not really hard, but just boring).

I had a feeling you were going to post in here! I just read the actuary article, and it sounds very intriguing. I will have to find out some more information about that career path! My accounting professor had said that there are so many fields and opportunities with an accounting degree, which is opposite that of the common perception that accounting is boring and straight-line.
