It's interesting to consider although this article or whatever doesn't delve very deep into it
Particularly what I find most interesting is how this has become more true as the years have gone on. To put it bluntly: black girls used to be blacker (visibly so, anyway).. Brandy, Monica, Whitney, hell even Aretha from waaaaay back in the day did not face such scrutiny and weren't subjected to having their skin color altered for album covers, magazine shoots, etc (obviously this is more prominent with the advent of advanced technologies, but still)
it's sad.. but it's the world we live in. All we, as the consumers, can do is support women of color and especially the ones who are shown in their most natural light. Beauty isn't determined by a particular shade or hue, it's in everyone.
