Tarralyn Ramsey - Upcoming Christmas project
It was executive L.A. Reid that said singer, “Tarralyn Ramsey is cut from the same cloth as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.” He definitely hit the mark with that assessment. Many of you may remember the singer- songwriter from her youthful days as a Gospel singer signed to Verity Records. She went on to win the VH1 Born to Diva reality competition in 2003, which led to a recording deal with Casablanca/Universal Records under the helm of Tommy Mottola. Audiences around the world have been mesmerized by Tarralyn’s powerful vocals as a contestant on both “The Voice” and “X-Factor.”
Now as an independent artist, she recently released a new single, a ballad simply titled “Love,” available on iTunes and through CD Baby. “The song is about experiencing a broken heart and never wanting to love again, but ultimately finding someone that makes you believe that love is still out there,” says Tarralyn. The release of “Love” is just phase one. She’s about to drop several Christmas songs for the holidays, including a soul-stirring rendition of “Silent Night.”
As evidenced in her single, “Love,” Tarralyn has always been a fan of big soulful ballads. “Nobody does you better than you,” she says. “I learned the hard way about changing who I am based on someone else’s vision for me. At this phase in my career, I’m definitely trying to be Tarralyn: the Gospel girl that does Pop and Inspirational music…who can take you to church on Sunday morning. That’s who I am and I can’t get away from it.”
