Following the highly-publicized shootings in Ottawa and Washington in the last week which killed 4 people, the topic of gun control has been brought up again. Do you support gun control?
Yes. People need to realize only police officers should carry guns. I understand at times you'd need them for self-defense, and some people use rifles and other fire weapons for hunting...But for christ's sake.
Voted for "I am an America and I support gun control".
I am a non-American who supports gun control, but I feel like my opinion isn't as invalid because I live here. Also, a shooting is not 'publicized.' If it happens I don't see why the media shouldn't cover it so that people feel safer and don't question how efficient the current gun legislation is.
I don't think an outright ban of all guns like some people want is right or even logical at this point, since it would be difficult to collect all the guns in the country.
I do think that we need to have gun control though. Ban the sale of some extremely powerful weapons the average person doesn't need. I would say a handgun or hunting rifle would be fine. A person should have an EXTENSIVE background check as well as an EXTENSIVE mental evaluation, and these should be done at least once a year.
What is your definition of gun control? If you mean banning all guns, I don't support that. If you mean controlling who has guns more efficiently, then yes I support it.
